The Domain of Bérioles
“Alone we go faster, in family we go further”
Les Bérioles, a family story
As a young graduate in agriculture, Olivier Teissèdre acquired the estate in 1976. Located in the heart of the Saint-Pourçain vineyards, at the foot of the church in the village of Cesset, the farm was at that time dedicated to growing cereals.
But in 1989, his wife, an agricultural engineer, decided to diversify the estate’s activities. Odile and Olivier became the owners of the “Clos des Bérioles” and planted the first 9,000 vines in the Bérioles vineyard. Over the next 22 years, the Teissèdre family developed their viticulture business, eventually reaching and operating an area of 8 hectares of vines.
In 2011, their son Jean Teissèdre decided to join the family estate, bringing with him a wealth of experience gained in the vineyards of Burgundy and the Loire Valley. This viticulture enthusiast created the Domaine des Bérioles winery in an old building in the Bourbonnais region. This marked the beginning of winemaking and bottling on the estate.
Four vintages later, Sophie and Jérôme Roux, Jean’s sister and brother-in-law, joined him to share in this family adventure.
Together, they decided to apply for organic certification for this estate, whose 15 hectares of vineyards stretch across the communes of Cesset and Saulcet.
In 2018, the Teissèdre family created the “Balades en Bérioles,” five wine tourism routes designed to share their passion for viticulture and communicate their attachment to the heritage, history, and gastronomy of this terroir.
Since 2019, Domaine des Bérioles has been certified organic and is finalizing its biodynamic certification.
In 2020, the estate decided to process its own cereals and sell its organic flours to local artisan bakers, organic shops, and directly at the Domaine des Bérioles wine cellar. And to make full use of its barley, the estate created the Brasserie des Bérioles, a series of several organic craft beers.

A preserved environment

Our Wine Cellar
Located in Cesset near Saint-Pourçain, at the foot of Saint-Barthélémy Church, this is where our wines are blended. It is the heart of the estate, where most of our Balades en Bérioles wines originate.

Biodynamics
Proposed in 1924 by Rudolf Steiner, biodynamics is a farming method that goes beyond simply excluding synthetic products. Biodynamic viticulture generally aims to rehabilitate, energize, and intensify organic life in the environment where the vines grow, using preparations made from plant, animal, and mineral materials (cow horns, herbal teas, silica). This approach consists of strengthening the vitality and resistance of plants by improving the natural exchanges between the soil and the roots, and between the sky and the leaves, in order to optimize the expression of the terroir in the grapes and therefore in the wine.
